Philosophy of Technology
Prerequisites: Restricted to Graduate Philosophy students, Other graduate students may enroll with Graduate Program Director permission.
Introduces students to key issues, debates, and figures in the philosophy of technology, including both metaphysical and ethical issues related to computation, artificial intelligence, and human versus machine personhood.
Outcomes: Interpret and compare the work of major figures in the philosophy of technology; Analyze and evaluate the ethical implications of technology on human persons and society; Analyze and evaluate theories of the ontology of technology; Produce original arguments based on the text, figures, and themes engaged in the course and apply these arguments to contemporary technological issues.
