Conservation Genetics

Students will gain foundational knowledge of population genetics principals. Throughout the course we will apply the population genetics principals to conservation issues and case studies to gain skills in conservation and management. Students will also evaluate several natural mechanisms of evolutionary change as well as evolutionary responses to anthropogenetic change.

Outcomes: Learn foundational theories in population genetics; Apply population genetics theory to issues in conservation biology; Understand tools and interpret data sets in conservation genetics; Analyze and disseminate literature in the field of conservation genetics; Gain hands on experience with genetic techniques and analyses.
