Advanced Topics: Emerging Technologies
The course introduces students to the latest and greatest in technology innovation. Students learn methods for evaluation the impact of emerging technology on a business and how to develop future and strategic planning techniques to respond to a constantly changing technology landscape. Ethical, legal, and policy issues presented by new technologies are also considered including the risk of adopting untested technologies. Technology can be a strategic and competitive advantage and this course prepares the IT leader to become adept at considering all the important issues and to determine how to leverage emerging technology effectively. Topics will vary.

Prerequisite: Open to students in the MPS in Information Technology Leadership and Strategy program (ITLS-MPS).

Outcomes:
1) Describe state-of-the-art technology trends and analyze opportunities and risk factors for new technology.
2) Discuss the ethical, social, legal, and policy implications of new technologies.
3) Research new technologies and assess how they will impact business.
4) Identify the potential for business development and create a business case for an emerging information technology.
