The Synoptic Gospels
Even though the course focuses on Matthew, there will be a continual comparison with the other two Synoptics and occasionally with John. By exegesis of the Gospel of Matthew and the study of its specificity among the gospels, it is hoped students will be able to connect their contemporary experience of Christian diversity to the experiences of the earliest followers of Jesus.
Students successfully completing this course can be expected to have achieved a deep level of understanding and of critical thinking with respect to the subject matter of the course.
