Teaching Science in Elementary Grade Classrooms
This module introduces candidates to the discipline of science, providing them experiences engaging in the teaching and learning of elementary science, and specifically works to help candidates integrate literacy into their science instruction. Candidates develop knowledge and skills needed to teach science through an inquiry approach and integrate literacy into their science teaching.
Prerequisites: Graduate Education Students Only.
Outcomes: Candidates will set and work towards professional development goals related to science content, science pedagogy, and science assessment; They will compile a portfolio of evidence to show they have worked towards their goals and reflect on how their understanding of science teaching and learning has shifted throughout the module.
