Description
Studies in African American Literature, 1700-1900
Intensive study of texts written by African American authors. The course varies in topic and may concentrate on a selection of works by a major African American writer or a particular African American literary movement or theme, 1700-1900.

Outcomes: Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of African American literature and culture with specialized attention to a major or distinctive feature of the African American literary tradition, 1700-1900.
