Media Technology & Society
Prerequisites: COMM 175 or COMM 201.

Through lectures, discussions, and assignments, learn the evolutionary history of media technologies from the telegraph through film, television, and digital media, and review contemporary theories about how technology shapes society.

Outcomes: Learn histories of media technologies and their effects on the shape of societies; Review contemporary theories about how technology shapes the way people live; Demonstrate the ability to analyze and critically assess connections between media, technologies, and daily life.
