Telecommunications
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of telecommunication networks. Underlying engineering principles of telephone networks, computer networks and integrated digital networks are discussed.

Prerequisite: COMP 271 or COMP 264.

Outcomes: Students will learn how telephone and data networks work; They will also learn voice networks, analog versus digital transmission, data link protocols, SONET, ATM, cellular phone systems, and the architecture of the current telephone system.
