Transition Planning
The purpose of this course is to provide a background for transition education services-from childhood to adulthood- for individuals with disabilities. Students will look at legal mandates for transition planning and service provision, as well as how the People First movement has led to changes in our thinking and talking about people with disabilities and the specific challenges faced by adolescents with disabilities as they transition to adulthood. Current perspectives on self-determination and quality of life issues as they relate to individuals transitioning to adulthood will be introduced.
