Studies in a Theme

Prerequisites: SPAN 104 or equivalent, and/or intermediate or above proficiency in Spanish as indicated by the foreign language placement exam.

Close examination of a particular theme within the contemporary Spanish-speaking world not covered by the Department's regular course offerings. Focus may vary from term to term and depending on the instructor. This course counts towards the SPAN-MINR but not the SPAN-BA or SLIT-MINR. This course also counts towards satisfying the CAS language competency requirement.

Outcomes: Describe a variety of social values, traditions, texts, artifacts, and other cultural expressions within historical contexts; Compare cultural phenomena across Spanish-speaking communities; Evaluate critical perspectives within cultural, literary, and social contexts.
