Seminar in Roman Satire
This course investigates Roman verse satire and its traditions through selections from Horace, Persius, and/or Juvenal, considered in their social, historical, and literary contexts. The Romans claimed satire as the one truly Roman genre: this course will explore the key themes and techniques animating the genre and its tradition.
