Description
Civil War & Reconstruction 1850-1877
This course covers the crisis of the Union from the Compromise of 1850 through the Civil War and the era of Reconstruction.

Outcomes: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the institution of slavery, the rise of abolitionist sentiment, the failure of democratic political institutions, the military history of the war, its cultural impact on the nation, and the struggle for racial justice in the Reconstruction era.
