Description
Introduction to Islamic History
This course focuses on the early and medieval history of the states, societies, and cultures of the Middle East from the prophetic mission until the fall of the 'Abbasid empire in 1258.

Outcomes: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the impact of Islam as a religious and cultural phenomenon and be able to analyze historically the Quran as well as primary sources from jurisprudence, philosophy, ethics, and historiography.
