Description
The Iliad
This course centers on Homer's Iliad and the genre of ancient Greek epic poetry, in particular, on the characters of the heroes and their place within the context of Greek society and thought.

Outcomes: Students should be able to translate the Iliad with proficiency, and demonstrate detailed knowledge of the author, the poem, its contents and meanings, as well as deeper understanding and appreciation of various contexts of the poem, its transmission, and the accomplishment of its composition.
