Art of Africa
An examination of the traditional arts of West Africa and the Pacific and their role in the control and organization of tribal societies before the introduction of European influences.

Outcomes: Students will demonstrate understanding of the unique role of the visual arts and music in the transmission of traditional mores; They will demonstrate understanding of the social and artistic distinctions found in a comparison of highly centralized societies with loosely defined tribal organization and how this is reflected in different cultural standards.
