American Literature 1865-1914
This course is a study of the rise of American Literature of this period. Authors may include Whitman, Dickinson, Twain, James, and Dreiser.
Outcomes: Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the distinctive historical conditions that inform American literature of this period, and will be able to identify and discuss some of its ideological and generic characteristics.
