Research Seminar in Counseling Psychology
Prerequisite: consent of instructor. This doctoral seminar provides in depth coverage of important methodological issues involved in conducting research in counseling psychology and provides the student to develop a research proposal.
Outcomes: Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of methodological issues involved in conducting research in counseling psychology, including understanding and controlling threats to validity, understanding the limits of null hypothesis significance testing and the importance of effect size estimates to the interpretation of the results of individual experiments and to the accumulation of evidence across experiments; Students will also demonstrate the ability to translate a research interest into a researchable question and design a study to address the question.
