Persuasion
Prerequisites: COMM 175.
This course is designed to explore theories related to persuasion, social influence, and compliance-gaining. Students will get practical experience in the analysis, criticism, and application of persuasive discourse across a wide variety of contexts.
Outcomes: Gain familiarity with findings from empirical investigations on persuasion, social influence, and compliance gaining; Learn about strategies and techniques of persuasion relating to a wide variety of real-life communication contexts, situations, and settings; Identify strategies and tactics used by persuaders; Understand the ethical implications of persuasive strategies and tactics.
