Introductory Immunology Lec/Lab

Prerequisites: BIOL 251 and BIOL 282.
The study of the nature and molecular basis of immune responses. History and vocabulary of immunology; experiments involving immune recognition and destruction; theories regarding self-tolerance and immunological diseases.
Outcomes: Students will learn the morphology and histology of the cells involved in an immune response, as well as how the cells develop and the molecular mechanisms used to recognize and eliminate non-self material; Students will become familiar with the evasion strategies of pathogens and the consequences associated with either hyper or hypo-responsiveness.
