Description
This course examines the sociology of health care with particular attention to: social and psychological factors; health care professionals; inter-personal relations in health care; the organization and use of health services; and the relationship between aging and health.

Outcomes: Students will understand the role that social forces play in the health and wellness of individuals, the community and society; Students will engage with different theoretical perspectives to examine how race, ethnicity, and gender shape health outcomes and access to health care in the US and other countries; Students will learn about empirical patterns of racial and ethnic disparities in health, health care delivery, and health policy.
