This course is an introduction to reflection on and analysis of the Christian theological tradition.

Outcomes: Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the tasks of Christian theology in its efforts to understand the human situation from the perspective of faith, various challenges to theology in the contemporary world, and will focus on one or more current theological issues.

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the Christian theological tradition. We will examine how Christian theology has been shaped historically by Scripture, Traditions, and culture. We will also explore the question: What is religion? This course will explore all of these areas through the lens of women¿s voices, many of whom have been underappreciated. The course has no prerequisites. Assessment will include close reading of primary and secondary texts, reflection papers, midterm and final exams, and an annotated bibliography project.
