This course will examine the intersections of race, class, and gender. Students embark on a field study to the U.S.¿Mexico border region. This immersive experience is designed to critically engage with the complex realities of migration, border enforcement, and transnational identity.
Through site visits, community dialogues, and engagement with local organizations, students explore how structural inequalities shape the lived experiences of migrants. The trip provides firsthand insight into the socio-political dynamics of the border, including the impact of immigration policy, labor exploitation, and racialized narratives surrounding migration.
By integrating classroom theory with on-the-ground observation, the experience will deepen students¿ understanding of how race, class, and gender intersect in shaping migration patterns and borderland communities. The trip also encourages reflection on ethical research practices and the role of academia in advocating for social justice.
