Description
This course provides an introduction and overview to Ignatian spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, equipping students to provide spiritual direction to individuals making the Exercises. Throughout the course we will address and discuss Ignatian topics, such as the movements of the Spiritual Exercises, the importance of discernment as a spiritual director, and one's own personal experience with the Exercises.

Outcomes: Recognize the Ignatian Rules for Discernment within the context of directing an individual making the Spiritual Exercises; Identify and witness the key movements and meditations of the Spiritual Exercises; Recognize key elements of Ignatian spirituality and how they fit in the Spiritual Exercises; Articulate one's own personal experience and transformation due to Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises; Engage with current and prudent practices and be aware of opportunities for continuing education as spiritual directors.
