Specific course titles and content will vary. May be taken as directed study under the supervision of a designated faculty member for independent or small group research in special areas of interest. Because of variations described, students may repeat the course for a total of six hours.

This course is titled "Lyric Diction."
This course will acquaint the student with the rules of diction in the major languages of classical singing: Italian, German, French, and Latin. The International Phonetic Alphabet will be introduced and utilized throughout the course. Students will gain both a theoretical understanding of the rules of diction and the practical ability to make the relevant sounds and sing them convincingly.
