Prerequisites: MATH 313.

This course studies advanced algebraic systems with an emphasis on rings and fields, culminating with the Galois theory of equations.

Outcomes: Students will be able to read, understand, and communicate arguments about rings, fields and abstract algebraic structures, preparing them for further advanced work in mathematics.
