Description
This course reviews and sharpens the essential skills and techniques necessary to
critically read, interpret, and write and speak about all genres of Hispanic literature
(narrative, poetry, drama, and essay) in Spanish. In so doing, students refine their
linguistic skills, and gain awareness of the complexities of the Spanish-speaking world.

Outcomes: Students will gain the necessary skills for critically reading, writing and discussing all genres of Hispanic literature.

Prerequisites: 250 *and* 251, or 252 *and* 253, or their equivalent AP credit. This course must be completed before advancing to 271 or 272. Consult the instructor with any questions. This course examines major works of literature from Spain and Latin America that explore the intersections of identity, gender, and migration. Through novels, poetry, short stories, essays, films, and songs students will engage with voices that challenge cultural boundaries and question traditional definitions of nationhood, belonging, and selfhood.
