Religion & Interdisciplinary Studies
Course topics will rotate to incorporate the study of religion in a variety of other disciplines. Focus will be on the influence or application of religious teachings and traditions in the fields of healthcare, politics, education, etc.
Outcomes: Describe the ethical implications of the religious beliefs and traditions of at least one religion for the primary field of study.
Religion, War and Ecology
Course topics will rotate to incorporate the study of religion in a variety of other disciplines. Focus will be on the influence or application of religious teachings and traditions in the fields of healthcare, politics, education, etc.

Tier 2 Theological Knowledge
Advances in technology, industry, and military weapons confront us with unprecedented capacities in warfare and for degrading Earth¿s ecosystems. We will examine Christian and Hindu traditions on war and peacemaking during the first section of the course. We will explore the history of Western thinking on pacifism, the just war theory and also crusader war. In the second section of the course we will examine the growing concern about mounting ecological threats especially climate disruption. We will examine some of the resources that different religious traditions of the world offer for promoting efforts at peacemaking and ecological responsibility. We will look at how these traditions understand humanity¿s relationship to the rest of the natural world.
This course is fully asynchronous. There are no required synchronous class sessions. However there will be daily class sessions on zoom that are optional and encouraged. These will be each day for one hour 5-6 pm Central standard time.
Asynchronous Class Meeting: All instruction for this section will be delivered online asynchronously.
