This course is an introduction to the historical and theological reading of the various documents of early Christianity known as the New Testament.

Outcomes: Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the literary genres found in the New Testament and explain why the recognition of genre is essential to the interpretation of the New Testament, as well as the importance of how the New Testament documents have reached their present state.

This course will be a rigorous historical, literary, and theological introduction to the various writings of the NT with specific emphasis on the legacies of Jesus and Paul. There will be readings, lecture slides to read, discusson board posts and two exams. The course will be primarily asynchronous with three synchronous sessions, on January 2 from 10-11 am to introduce the course; on January 6 from 10 am-noon for the midterm; and on January 10 from 10 am - noon for the final exam.
