Description
This course will cover the elements necessary to implement a basic compliance and ethics program in a company. Students will become familiar with the basic principles of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines that define an effective compliance program. Students will learn the fundamentals of the job of Chief Compliance Officer by working with compliance issues in the media, commercially available compliance training programs and compliance techniques used in major corporations.

Outcomes: Understand the role of Compliance in an organization and its effect upon an organization's culture; Comprehend the legal underpinnings for a corporate compliance program, including the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, as well as the key frameworks for a corporate compliance program such as COSO;Learn and understand the seven elements of an effective compliance program and how they work to create and influence an organizations culture and its employees' behavior; Appreciate the relationship between ethics and compliance and how both concepts contribute to an organization's well-being, as well as recognize how each corporate function like Legal, HR, Audit and Compliance must be responsible for some part of a company's compliance program.
