Effective Cybersecurity Leadership requires that there is a cogent Governance structure as well as planning for incident response. Students in this course will learn how to manage Cybersecurity governance processes and how to plan for, respond to, and report on Cybersecurity Incidents. Students in this course will learn from case studies of past cyber incidents. Skills developed include the developing of a cybersecurity governance plan, an Incident Response Plan; ethical, best practices on handling communications/disclosures after an incident.

Prerequisite: Open to students in the MPS in Information Technology Leadership and Strategy program (ITLS-MPS).

Outcomes:
1) Evaluate the effectiveness and application of multiple information security governance structures and information security management programs for variant enterprise scenarios with consideration for strategic, operational, ethical, social, environmental, and risk factors.
2) Apply foundational knowledge of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) concepts as they relate to legal, regulatory, and standards-based environments.
3) Describe the constituent components of Contingency Planning including Business Impact Analysis, Incident Response Planning, Disaster Recovery Planning, Business Continuity Planning, and Crisis Management Planning.
4) Develop an incident response plan.
