Description
Prerequisites: THEO 100, THEO 107, or equivalent; please check requirements for declared majors/minors for exceptions.

This course will study the role of women in at least one (if not more) of the major world religious traditions.

Outcomes: Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the influence of religion on gender roles, and how women in the contemporary world are reinterpreting their religious traditions.

Class Notes
What is God's gender? The gender of Christ? Did God make covenants with women? Why can women be ordained in some denominations but not others? This course will look at Biblical and theological questions around gender in Judaism and Christianity and how they relate to ongoing questions about women in religious leadership. This course counts towards the Core requirement in theology as a second-tier course and has no prerequisites.
