Description
Prerequisites: Grade of C or higher in SOWK 500, SOWK 501, SOWK 502, SOWK 503, SOWK 504, SOWK 505, SOWK 509, and SWII 530S; P in SWII 530; or Advanced Standing Students, Advanced Standing Online Students, or 5 Year Social Work Students.

This advanced-level course is associated with counseling clients affected by Substance Use Disorders (SUD). The core Functions and skills examined include: screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling (individual, family and group), case management, crisis intervention, client education, referral, reports and recordkeeping, consultation with other professionals and intervention.

Outcomes: Apply key clinical tasks associated with counseling clients affected by substance use disorders (SUD); Demonstrate evidence-based approaches to screening, assessment, and treatment of SUD.
