ENVS 498 Special Topics: Professional Credentials and Training for Ecologists
This class will provide training and study prep for professional licenses and certifications necessary to be a marketable ecological professional in the field. Training and study prep for the following certifications will be provided: (1) IL Boating License (2) NOLS Wilderness First Aid Certificate (3) IL Pesticide Commercial Not-for-Hire Applicator License (4) FAA 14 CFR Part 107, Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Pilot License (5) S-130 Firefighter Wildland Training Certificate and (6) Chicago Wilderness Burn Pile Burn Boss Certificate.
Actual certification testing will not be provided during the course session. Students interested in completing certification testing may do so after course completion at their own expense.
This course is taught at the Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC). Students are expected to participate in class each day between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Funding for room and board may be available for those who register before April 1.
