This course is an introduction to reflection on and analysis of the Christian theological tradition.

Outcomes: Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the tasks of Christian theology in its efforts to understand the human situation from the perspective of faith, various challenges to theology in the contemporary world, and will focus on one or more current theological issues.

Asynchronous Class Meeting: All instruction for this section will be delivered online asynchronously. This course aims to provide a survey of the major sources of Christian theology by drawing upon the powerful narratives of the Bible and some of the writings of Christianity¿s most influential theologians. We will examine the historical context and main themes of St. Augustine of Hippo, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Martin Luther with an eye toward the continued relevance of their religious and ethical visions. We will also will examine contemporary Christian views on war and peace, Liberation theology, Black theology and ecologically-informed Creation-centered theology.
