Description
This course is an introduction to the basic elements of Spanish language and culture. It is designed for students with no previous experience in Spanish.

Outcomes: Students will be able to understand simple messages and short narratives, respond to basic inquiries about themselves and others, formulate basic questions, as well as understand basic written texts.

Class is scheduled for on campus. Prerequisite: No previous knowledge of Spanish. If you took any Spanish in the past, you must take a placement exam https://www.luc.edu/modernlang/exam.shtml. If you still place into SPAN 101, contact the Placement Coordinator to ensure it is the best fit for you. Course description: Taught in Spanish. This course introduces the basic communicative elements of Spanish, and promotes the development of listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing skills while examining language and culture throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Outcomes: Students will be able to understand and write basic sentences and to produce short sentences (orally and in writing) with basic personal information about themselves; express feelings and emotions; discuss likes and dislikes and discuss their activities and plans in Spanish.
