Description
This course is an introductory study of the theatrical art form and its contemporary production practice. Students engage in a series of workshops and participatory creative projects.

Outcomes: Students will demonstrate the ability to identify the variety of collaborating arts and artists that combine to create of a work of theatre; to analyze a play script for live performance; to evaluate theatrical production; and to creatively apply knowledge of theatrical process through expressive and creative endeavors.

This course is an introductory study of the theatrical art form. Since the contemporary theatre is the product of a vast historical tradition, the student will -through text and film- examine several important plays and dramatic styles in order to develop an appreciation of the historical tradition and evolution of this most powerful and beautiful form of art. Students will also study the roles of the many collaborating arts and artists that come together to create a theatrical work. The student will analyze a script for performance and demonstrate understanding of the theatrical process.
